Sunday Scribblings – Message

THE MESSAGE

It came out of nowhere – it was not what she was expecting at all.

Each word, as it left his lips, was like a slap to her face and she fell back in shock.
Who knew ?

She had been so caught up in herself and her own fantasy world that she’d forgotten the real world was around her, and that those in the real world might have noticed her decline into herself.  The decline had been happening for months, but she’d deluded herself into thinking it was all OK,  and that no one would notice, but this was the second time it had been brought to her attention. The first message she ignored,  choosing instead to walk away from the messenger and placing the blame on them. NOW it was too confronting.

Her heart hurt

She couldn’t sleep
She didn’t know what the next move should be

Life felt like it was too hard, she wished she had the courage to end it.
But instead, she sat
heart heavy and hurting
crying out her words

read write prompt #113: the therapeutic cleanse

I am not a prolific enough writer to follow the rules and prompt well this week – BUT there has been one theme of  ‘sadness’ coming though a lot of my work of late …. so my ‘cleanse’ will be to make this a HAPPY piece … and I’ll even use punctuation and capital letters …. and god forbid … it might even rhyme !!!

TIME FOR HAPPINESS

She turned around and he was there,
It was unexpected, and she could feel the smile spread across her face,
It got harder for her to breathe as she got closer,
She hoped that he would reach for her, to enclose her in a warm embrace.

Just to be beside him was a joy to her,
They sat and talked and shared some laughter as they listened to the band,
But all the time inside her head,
She was imagining him leaning over closer and stroking  her hand.

Over lunch they talked more and more,
The words she wanted to say would not leave her lips or heart,
She kept them to herself and smiled
Because  she knew if she said the words out loud it would mean they’d have to part.

It was time to go, but she lingered on
Found excuses to keep on talking, to keep him with her a second longer,
It seemed hard to bear sometimes
But learning to live with unrequited love was sure to make her stronger.

She drove home with a smile
That was etched permantly on her face for the rest of the day,
As hard as it was for her to live like this
She knows she will get through it and it would be all be Okay.

not mine …

but this struck a chord

A Love I Cannot Share
by Hayley J
I wasn’t supposed to love you,
you are just my friend.
So why do I have these feelings,
I just want them to end.

You do not feel the same way,
I know this for a fact.
But what am I supposed to do,
when these feelings keep coming back.

They do not go away,
no matter how hard I try.
But I simply cannot tell you,
I would rather break down and cry.

So I am stuck with this pointless crush,
this is so unfair.
But I am not able to tell you,
because your reaction I cannot bear.

No one knows how I feel for you,
and I hope to keep it that way.
Because I think if you found out,
you would just turn and walk away.

Sunday Scribblings – Milestone

She didn’t realise when it was happening that it was a milestone event in her life.

It was really just a regular online chat with one of her girlfriends that turned into something more, a sharing of deep held thoughts and secrets and things that she didn’t even know she felt or thought until the words came tumbling,  it was though her fingers had a mind of their own as they tapped across the keyboard, letting forth the deep and long held secrets, things that she thought would turn people away if they really knew her thoughts, if they knew what she was really like. But the friend said “I understand”, and didn’t just ‘understand’ but felt the same and did similar things, and it was like a flood gate of honesty was open, as she knew she would not be judged by this friend as she emptied her heart onto the computer screen, with each word typed a weight lifted from her and she felt ‘normal’.

in the days that followed, she realised what a huge event this had been, and that her life had changed because of it

Saturday 9 – Everybody is a star

Saturday 9: Everybody is a Star

1. Did you ever think that you’d be a star? If yes, doing what?

I was always going to be a singer /dancer. I would practise in my room, singing in the hairbrush and perfecting my dance moves …. I actually was pretty good (in my own mind)

2. Tell us about the last time you had a romantic dinner.

We went away to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary – I organised a special weekend away at Jenolan Caves heritage house. Our dinner was a 6 course meal … everything was so lovely … we had a beautiful time. OMG that was 6 months ago – we need to do it again

3. Tell us about your worst job interview.

Ha – that’s easy – went for a Community Development Job and the first question they asked me was “what is community development” and I went completely and utterly BLANK and couldn’t answer the question !!

4. Tell us about your stupidest date.

Too long ago to remember – I do remember the stupidest comment I ever made on a date – I was about 17 going out with a 21 year old … who asked me if I liked the martial arts …. I replied “I love all sort of art work”

5. How much in common do you think you should have with a romantic partner?

a fair bit – good to have some things that are separate too.

6. Tell us about a favorite meme that you loved but no longer posts.

dunno …  I tend to ‘drop them off’ like I did with this one for a while

7. How did you get into blogging?

my friend Lee had one – and I was just about to go on my first trip on Route 66 and thought it would be a great fun way to record our adventures – haven’t stopped writing since !!

8. Do you share all your fantasies with a significant other?

nope not at all …. i have a nice little one going at the moment that is all MINE !!!

9. What change in your life would you like to happen this year?

more weight loss, keeping in contact with friends more, more dinner parties, more fun !!!

read write prompt #112: the narrative wallpaper

ok – so I took this in probably a completely different way than the prompt was meant ……

SHE
She gazed around the room

the blank walls stared back at her
She picked up a pen and began to write his name

Over and over till the wall was blank no more

She sat down in the middle of the room and looked up at her handiwork

She cried out his name over and over
She hung her head in shame and wept
As the knife came in contact with the skin on the back of her wrist

She wrote his name once more
…………………………………………………………………………………..in red this time

something new for me ……

Wordle: Read Write Poem 109

oh poop
i wrote a poem and the power went out … and lost it. Shall try again
Take two ….

her fertile mind asked the question
why was life so hard ?
why could it not be simple ?
why could she not easily get over the stones and hurdles in her life ?
she shouldered heavy thoughts about life and love

her fertile mind looks forward to the nights when she can think of him again
