Self-reliance ~Ralph Waldo Emerson – prompt 1

Personal Recipe by Harley Schreiber

I do not wish to expiate, but to live. My life is for itself and not for a spectacle. I much prefer that it should be of a lower strain, so it be genuine and equal, than that it should be glittering and unsteady. I wish it to be sound and sweet, and not to need diet and bleeding. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Think about the type of person you’d NEVER want to be 5 years from now. Write out your own personal recipe to prevent this from happening and commit to following it. “Thought is the seed of action.”

What do I never want to be ? I see so many traits in others that I don’t like, things I swear I will never do or become.
I will never constantly whinge about what I don’t have – instead I will be grateful for what i DO have
I will not hold a grudge for too long – instead I will let go and instead feel sorry for the other person for ‘missing out’
I will not doubt my love – for myself and others I will believe in myself and show my love for others
I will not complain about things – again, I will be grateful and thankful for what i have and remember how many others are ‘worse off’ than me.
I want to work hard
I want to love and be loved
I want to smile more, dance more, laugh more
I never want to forget how I felt that night in TW …. and the next day and the days surround that – I will live my life to this aim
